Kavuni Kanji Puttu Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Naturalist Chettinad Kavuni Kanji Mix - 1 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Water - 1/4 cup
  • Grated fresh coconut - 1/2 cup

Kavuni Kanji Puttu Recipe & Preparation:

  • In a mixing bowl take Naturalist Kavuni Kanji mix and salt as per your taste.

  • Now add water slowly and mix it with your fingertips to get the right consistency. 

  • When you are able to make lumps from the mix and the lump crumbles upon squeezing, the Puttu mix is ready to be cooked. 

  • Break all the lumps of the mix.

  • Now, pour 2 cups of water in the base vessel of the Puttu maker and start heating it.

  • Now, place the perforated disc inside the cylindrical vessel of the Puttu maker.

  • Add 2 tbsp of grated Coconut and spread smoothly.

  • Then add 4 tbsp of Puttu flour. Again layer with 2 tbsp of grated coconut anf 4 tbsp of Puttu flour.

  • Cover the top portion with 2 tbsp of grated coconut and spread evenly. 

  • Now close the top with the lid and put the cylindrical vessel on top of the base and steam the puttu on medium heat. 

  • Cook until steam starts to come out of the top vent. Switch off the flame.

  • Now remove the cylindrical vessel from the base and let it cool down for 5 minutes.

  • Carefully open the vessel and push the Puttu using a wooden ladle from the back.

  • Serve Kavuni Kanji Puttu with Kadala curry.
